Comments and suggestions in Loio work much like in your favorite online text editors (Google Docs, Notion, etc.). Contributors leave notes and propose edits in the text, and every conversation is kept in one place. You and your authorized Editors decide what goes into the final version. When the terms are settled, approvers confirm the final version, so you know it’s ready to send.
1. Leave a comment
Comment on the exact part of the document you want to discuss:
Comment on specific text: Select the text, then click the comment button in the floating toolbar. Your comment opens a new thread linked to that text.
Comment on a block: Hover over a block and click the speech bubble on its right.
Comment on the whole document: Click Start a thread at the bottom of the Threads panel on the right.
2. Reply and resolve
All conversations appear in the Threads panel on the right, split into Open and Resolved tabs.
Open a thread: Click a thread to jump to the related text. Clicking highlighted text in the document opens its thread too.
Reply: Type in the Add comment field and click Comment or press Enter/Return.
Resolve: Click Resolve when the discussion is over. The thread moves to the Resolved tab, so the conversation stays on record.
Note: Resolving closes the whole thread. You can’t resolve individual comments within it.
3. Suggest changes
Reviewers don’t need a special mode to propose an edit. They just add, delete, or replace text in the document, and each change appears as a suggestion highlighted in color:
Added text is highlighted in green.
Deleted text is highlighted in red and crossed out.
Replaced text shows the old and new versions highlighted in yellow.
Each suggestion also appears as a card in the Threads panel with its author, so others can reply and discuss it.
4. Accept or decline suggestions
Click the highlighted text or its card in the Threads panel, then choose:
Accept: The change becomes part of the document.
Reject: The change is removed, and the original text stays.
Important: Only the Owner and authorized Editors can accept or decline suggestions. This way, nothing slips into the final version unnoticed.
5. Get a document approved
Approvers verify the document before you send it for signing. To request approval, invite contributors with the Approver role. Learn how to invite contributors→
Approvers review the document, then click Approve once everything looks good, confirming that the draft is correct and ready for signing.
If the document needs changes, Approvers can leave comments and suggest edits for the document owner and co-editors to accept or decline. Suggestions save automatically in the draft.
The Owner can track the approval status right from the editor (next to the document’s title). Click the contributor avatars to see each person’s status. Loio emails you each time someone approves the document.
Important: Approving a document, accepting a suggestion, and signing are separate steps. An approval applies to the whole document; it doesn’t accept individual edits or replace a signature.
