Available on: Plus and Pro plans (signature requests); Free (adding fields)
Fields are the spots where signers enter their details and place signatures. In the contract editor, fields sit right in the text and move along as you type, so your layout stays consistent and easy to manage.
1. Add signers
In the left-hand panel, under Recipients, click +Add signer to add parties that needs to sign. You can invite up to 10 signers per document (5 with Plus, 10 with Pro, and 3 with a free trial).
Rename signer (optional): Hover over a signer and click the pen icon to change the role name or pre-set the recipient’s name and email address.
Remove signer: Click the trash bin icon next to the signer.
You can also turn any contributor into a signer when you invite them to collaborate. Learn more about inviting contributors→
2. Place fields
Select a signer in the Recipients list, then drag a field from the Fields panel into the document. Each field takes the color of the signer it’s assigned to.
There are two kinds of fields:
Inline fields (Text, Date, and Checkbox) sit inside a sentence and can be resized horizontally, moving text in front of them.
Block fields (Signature and Initials) typically require more space to accommodate signatures and can be resized both horizontally and vertically. You can type any text you need before or after them, and they will adjust dynamically.
To place signature fields side by side, add an empty line, click + to its left, and select Two columns or Three columns, depending on how many parties need to sign.
Available field types:
Signature: Lets the signer create and insert their electronic signature.
Initials: Lets the signer add their initials, for example, to confirm a specific clause.
Text: Used for names, addresses, prices, and other details.
Date: Lets the signer select a date.
3. Adjust fields
Click any field to open the floating toolbar and manage your fields:
Re-assign: Use the Assignee dropdown to assign the field to another signer.
Customize hints (optional): For Text and Date fields, use the Hint input to tell signers what to enter.
Set field validation (optional): Use the Text validation dropdown on Text fields to require a specific data format.
Manage fields: Duplicate or delete the selected field.
4. Add your own fields (if you sign too)
If you’re one of the parties, assign your Signature and Date fields to yourself — Your name (You). Fields assigned to others don’t include you in the signing sequence.
Important: To make yourself a recipient in the signing sequence, assign at least one field to yourself.
5. Send the document
Click Finalize & Send in the top-right corner.
Enter the name and email address of each recipient (unless you’ve pre-set them in Step 1).
To route the document in a specific order, enable Set signing order and arrange the recipients. To let everyone sign at the same time, leave the toggle off.
Click Send.
If you’re first in the signing order, Loio takes you straight to your signing session. The other recipients get their invitations in turn.
Note: For security reasons, an eSignature request is valid for 30 days. Once it expires, the recipient won’t be able to sign.
6. Track progress
Track all your signature requests from the Signatures section of your dashboard. To learn more about the signer’s experience, check out this guide.
If a recipient declines to sign, they can leave a reason. The document then goes back to collaboration, so you can update it together and send it again.
