Get familiar with the key terms and concepts you'll come across while using Loio's contract workspace.


This glossary collects the terms used throughout Loio's Help Center to help you quickly understand the platform's features, tools, and workflows. Use it as a quick reference whenever you come across an unfamiliar term in a guide.

Workspace & navigation

  • Dashboard: Your command center in Loio, providing quick access to your files, signature requests, and template library.

  • Home: The starting section of your dashboard, showing recently edited files, the newest signature requests, and recommended templates.

  • Documents: The central storage folder for all files you upload or create from Loio's templates.

  • Signatures: The folder where you track and manage all signature requests you've sent or received.

  • Templates: The section of your workspace offering access to Loio's library of lawyer-vetted templates.

  • Guides: A section linking to Loio's collection of business and legal resources.

  • Trash: The folder where deleted documents are moved before being restored or permanently deleted.

Documents & templates

  • Editor: The built-in PDF tool where you fill out, edit, sign, or prepare a document for signing.

  • “My edits” mode: The editor mode used to add text, dates, signatures, images, and annotations to a document, or modify existing PDF content.

  • “For signers” mode: The editor mode used to add and assign fillable fields for recipients to complete when sending a document for signing.

  • Reusable document: Any file you upload or create in Loio, which automatically becomes an asset you can customize and use again without re-uploading.

  • Template tier: The subscription level (Free, Plus, or Pro) required to access a given template in Loio's library.

Editing tools

  • Fillable fields: Interactive boxes overlaid on a PDF that let signers input information or signatures. Available types include Signature, Initials, Text, Multiline, Date, and Checkbox.

  • Hint: A label added to a Text, Multiline, or Date field that tells the signer what information to provide.

  • Text validation: A setting on Text fields that enforces a specific data format, such as an email address, phone number, price, etc.

  • “Edit Content” tool: The tool used to modify or remove existing text directly within a PDF.

  • “Draw” tools: The Pen, Marker, Text Highlight, and Eraser tools used to draw, highlight, and redline a document during review.

Signing & signatures

  • eSignature (electronic signature): A digital way to indicate approval on a document, carrying the same legal weight as a handwritten signature in most jurisdictions.

  • Signer: A recipient assigned to complete one or more fields on a document sent for signature.

  • Signing order: An optional sequence that determines the order in which multiple signers receive and complete a document.

  • Signature request: An invitation sent to one or more recipients to sign a document electronically.

  • Document status: The current state of a signature request — Signed, In progress, Waiting, Declined, Revoked, or Expired.

  • Revoke: Canceling an active signature request, immediately removing recipient access to the document.

  • Decline: A recipient's formal refusal to sign a document, which voids the request.

  • Resend: Refreshing an expired signature request and sending it again with a new expiration window.

  • Reminder: An email nudge sent to recipients who haven't completed a pending signature request.

  • Audit trail: A permanent, timestamped log of every action taken on a document, from upload to final signature.

  • eSignature disclosure: A consent statement recipients must accept before signing, confirming they agree to conduct business electronically.

AI & export

  • AI summary: Loio's tool for instantly generating an overview of a document, including its parties, key clauses, dates, financial terms, and Red/Yellow/Green flags highlighting risk level.

  • Red flag: A critical issue or unfavorable term identified by the AI summary that requires immediate attention.

  • Yellow flag: A potential risk or ambiguity flagged by the AI summary that needs further review.

  • Green flag: A favorable clause or term identified by the AI summary.

  • Export: Downloading, emailing, or printing a document directly from the dashboard or editor.

Billing & account

  • Plan: Your subscription tier — Free, Plus, or Pro — which determines your access to templates, editing tools, and signature limits.

  • Free trial: A 7-day trial of the Plus or Pro plan that lets you test premium features before being charged.

  • Billing dashboard: The account section showing your current plan, usage, payment methods, and billing history.

  • Usage limits: The monthly allowances for templates, eSignature requests, and AI summaries tied to your subscription plan.
