Revoke access to sent documents

Cancel active signing requests instantly. Stop the signature process and immediately remove recipient access to documents when plans or contract terms change.

Revoking access allows you to maintain full control over your documents. Whether you’ve spotted an error after sending or negotiations have stalled, revoking a signature request ensures that your document becomes void before everyone signs.

How to revoke a signature request?

You can revoke access to any document that is currently in the In progress or Waiting status.

  1. Navigate to the Signatures folder in your Loio workspace.

  2. Click on a document card or the View details button to open the request overview.

  3. Click the Revoke button.

  4. Confirm your action in the pop-up window.

Alternatively, click More (three horizontal dots) on a document card and select Revoke access.

What happens after revoking access?

Once a request is revoked, all recipients lose the ability to view or sign the document immediately. Loio sends an email to all signers informing them that the request has been revoked. The document status in your workspace changes to Revoked. The event is logged in the document's permanent history.

Troubleshooting

Can I undo a revocation?

No. Once a signature request is revoked, it cannot be restarted. You will need to prepare the document and send a new signature request if you wish to proceed later.

Why don't I see the Revoke button?

The Revoke button is only available for active requests. If a document is already Signed, Expired, or Declined, it cannot be revoked as the transaction is already closed.

Will the signers know why I revoked access?

The automated notification informs signers that access was revoked but does not include specific reasons. For transparent communication, we recommend reaching out to your stakeholders directly before or after revoking a request.
